Tierra de bandoleros. El Camino Inglés

Land of bandits. The English Way

During romanticism, Andalusia was a favorite destination for travelers, with Ronda standing out among its historic cities. The trip from Gibraltar to Ronda was an adventurous journey that revealed unique cultural aspects of southern Europe.

The “English Trail”, one of the most risky, was popular with these travelers. On their way, they encountered muleteers, smugglers and bandits, figures who added an air of danger and adventure to the journey.

These characters, from the rough muleteers to the idealized bandits like José María “el Tempranillo”, were an integral part of the travel experience, adding an element of excitement and sometimes fear to the romantic adventure in Andalusia.
